The trio are the nominees vying to win the first ever MVP award

Prison Spears skipper Ibrahim Kongo is set to battle with Felix Mukunzi from Ndejje University and Chester Ororang of UPDF for the Most Valuable Player this season.

The trio are the nominees vying to win the first ever MVP award after over 40 years of Uganda Handball Federation (UHF) existence.

The event is slated for December 10 and according to the head organising committee Hannington Musoke, they intended to reward players for their efforts as they also showcase the sport to various stakeholders in a bid to search for sponsors.

"We have never had any league sponsor come on board for the so many years we have existed," head organising Musoke said during the press briefing at the UOC office at Lugogo.

"Maybe this will help to attract sponsors after realizing how serious the sport has turned out to be."

They will also recognise the handball founding member Nicholas Onegi P'minga for introducing the sport in the 1970's.

The other interesting category to be awarded is the young player of the year (U-17) that has nominees like Shakira Bako from Kibuli S.S, Lillian Acola from Gombe and Sharif Mandrusha of Kakungulu Memorial.
