Cranes assured of sh1.66b from AFCON

Cranes qualified for AFCON after 39 years when they beat Comoros 1-0 in September.

Uganda Cranes appearance to the 2017 AFCON finals in Gabon next year will guarantee them US$475,000 (sh1.6b).

The January 14 to February 5 AFCON finals ,will have the winner walking away with $4,000,000 (sh 14b) while runners-up $2,000,000(sh7b)

Losing semi-finalists and quarter-finalists will each take home $ 1,500,000 (sh5.25 b) and $ 800,000 (sh2.8 b) respectively. Each team that will finish third and fourth positions in the group stages will earn $ 575,000 (sh2 b) and $475,000 (sh1.66)

Meanwhile, the prize money increment was also extended to other CAF competitions such as Champions League, Confederation Cup, African Nations Championship (CHAN), U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, Women's Africa Cup of Nations, U-23 Africa Cup of Nations and  CAF Super Cup
