Uganda Martyrs' University, Nkozi (UMU) on Friday marked its 23rd anniversary with a call on the alumni, students, staff and other stake-holders to uphold its values, which include among others academic excellence and high ethical standards.

During the celebrations that took place at the University's main campus at Nkozi, in Mpigi district, Fr. Dr. Henry Kiwanuka Nsubuga, who delivered the homily during the thanksgiving mass asked the students, staff and friends of the University to emulate the Uganda Martyrs, who he said were totally committed to their faith even when it meant losing their life.

In a message deliverd for him by the state minister for higher education, Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo, President Museveni thanked the Catholic Bishops of Uganda for starting Uganda Martyrs' University, Nkozi, which he said had immensely supplemented the efforts of his government towards the socio-economic development of Uganda.

Museveni later advised the students and alumni of UMU to avoid mischievous life styles, which can ruin their lives.
