Express seals sh300m DStv sponsorship

Both players and fans are set to benefit from the sponsorship

You might not here more of Express financial woes that had of late become fodder for the press after DStv unveiled a sh300m sponsorship package for the team on Thursday.

 

 

Their match days are set to become the next big thing with the deal benefiting both the players and the fans.

The one-year deal will not only have Express among the smartest teams in the league with sh20m branded jerseys, training kit and track suits; but the deal also sees them get sh50m cash.

Both players and fans are set to benefit from the sponsorship which has sh120m set aside for match day activations where fans will be involved in exciting promotions, participate in different competitions and consequently walk away with different prizes.

The leading Pay TV will also work closely with Express FC management to morale boost the team spirits by awarding the best player of the team every month throughout the season.

The Club's fans will also benefit from a quarterly award of a fully connected decoder for the best best-morale boosting fan on top of man of the match awards at all Express matches.

Wankulukuku Stadium is also going to get a new face with branding material worth sh64m while all the team matches will be promoted in the press and on Radio and TV stations under the communications package where sh100m will be provided.

MultiChoice Uganda Chairman Steven Musoke unveiled the sponsorship package to Express FC officials led by club chairperson Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi and club president Bbaale Mugera, in front of a packed hall at Golf Course Hotel in Kampala yesterday.

After confessing to being an ardent Express FC fan Musoke explained that despite not influencing the decision to sponsor the team, management had decided to sponsor Express in order to associate with a pioneer brand.

"As pace setters in our industry we at MultiChoice believe in legacy and as leaders in Pay TV we do understand what a pioneer brand like Express FC means. The management looked at all teams and thought there is better mileage by associating with the team," Musoke noted.

"Our choice for sponsorship anchors on the legacy we both share as brands and the credibility Express FC is showcasing, especially by the appointment of their new chairperson, Florence Nakiwala,"

 

 

 

"DStv believes and seeks to support local content extensively and sports are a principal part of our content through our SuperSport brand, therefore football is closer to our hearts. I urge management of Express to start creating stars we can watch in the English Premier League and we hope other TV's can sponsor other teams so that we can have a real good fight on the field," Musoke stated.

"I'm humbled and privileged to witness this. We would like to appreciate DStv for the sponsorship; it serves as great reminder of our legendary position in the soccer fraternity and we are committed to ensure we return to the top," Nakiwala said before the new kit was unveiled by officials and some players.

The unveiling was attended by among others; MultiChoice general manager Charles Hamya, marketing manager Phoebe Nakabazzi and Express officials Hamza Junju, Erias Sserunjogi and brand ambassador Bobi Wine.
