Bobi sub county councillors rejected

Some of those nominated failed to meet the requirements

Bobi sub-county council has declined to approve members of the sub county court committee saying the people nominated lack the required skills in the field.

During an emergency council meeting held on Tuesday, the councillors said some of those nominated are below the required age, others did not have any knowledge of the work of the committee while others are not residents of the sub county.

The Local Government Act 1996 mandates the chairperson of the sub county with the executives to nominate committee members and forward them to the council for approval.

The councillors however blamed the chairman for basing the nominations on party affiliations of the nominees.

Susan Ajok Owaa, councillor III for Paidwe Parish said such a committee is a sensitive one which needs mature people.

But Bobi sub county LC3 chairman, Richard Odongo said the councillors failed to approve the names due to bias.
