The arrest was an eye opener in the fight against corruption

The district leadership of Katakwi has applauded the efforts of State House health monitoring unit for helping them unearth the rot in the health sector.

On Wednesday the district health officer Dr. Isaiah Kikwabanga was arrested together with his senior staff over alleged issuing of forged fuel receipts amounting to over sh50m.

The suspects were last evening granted Police bond and required to report to Police on Thursday next week as investigations are finalised.

Walter Elakas the district chairperson said Kikwabanga's arrest follows his letters to State House demanding for help following a mess at the facility.

The Katakwi RDC Filbert Ocailap explained that bad acts of public servants in the country have affected service delivery, a matter for which he said the law should take its course.

Ocailap explained that the arrest was an eye opener in the fight against corruption and misuse of government property in the district.

Kikwabanga however denied any wrong doing saying he is a clean man who has not swindled government money as alleged.
