This follows complaints that have seen a number of medics implicated in such corrupt activities.

Amuria district leadership has set a policy that tasks patients to ask for receipts from medics who demand a lot of money from them for treatment in a bid to curb corruption in government hospitals and health centres.

The move aims at improving service delivery in the district.

If properly implemented, the polity will facilitate transparency in the government hospitals where people cry of being charged for treatment yet the services ought to be free.

This follows complaints that have seen a number of medics implicated in such corrupt activities.

Jorem Okotum, the chairperson health and education committee in Amuria district council, said they have come up with the decision after seeing that some people are charged highly in the areas of surgery.

This was during a monitoring exercise conducted last month.

Okotum went on to urge patients and the community at large to work with the local leaders to expose the corruption in health facilities.
