Twenty Police officers were among 30 people who were injured this morning along Jinja Road when a Police vehicle they were travelling in involved in an accident.

The officers from Nsambya Police Barracks were travelling in a truck registration number UP 5630 when it was knocked by a speeding Fuso truck UAM 932M near the Electoral Commission headquarters.

The accident caused heavy traffic delays along Jinja Road as commuters headed to work.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima declined to reveal where the injured officers had been taken for treatment. He however said the accident was caused by reckless driving by the Fuso driver.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Fuso truck was over speeding when he ploughed into the Police truck and Coaster van that was ferrying passengers.
