Bunyoro Sports Press Association launched

The association brings together sports journalists from the districts of Masindi, Hoima, Buliisa, Kibaale and Kiryandongo.

Bunyoro Sports Press Association was launched in Masindi district on Friday.

The association brings together sports journalists from the districts of Masindi, Hoima, Buliisa, Kibaale and Kiryandongo.

An interim committee that will run the affairs of the association for about two months was also put in place.

Among the members elected include; Moses Tumusiime from Kiryandongo FM as the president, Godfrey Nsingwiire of Kitara FM Masindi as the Vice President, Priscillar Nyamahunge of New Vision as the secretary, Josam Gucwaki of Biiso FM in Buliisa as the mobiliser and Joseph Baguma of Bukedde as the treasurer.

While addressing the members, the Uganda Sports Press Association-USPA President, Sabiiti Muwanga said that USPA has been facing a challenge of including other regions on the sports platform because it was mostly concentrated in the central region

He decried laziness amongst journalists and urged them to be committed and have passion for their work.

"There is need for journalists to have passion for their work because there is no money in sports.Some journalists are too lazy and always dodge being on ground but depend on information given to them by sources on phone," Muwanga said.

Ritah Aliguma, the Vice President USPA said,"It is our duty to fight for the development of sports in Bunyoro by using our voices to make sure that the stadiums and other sports facilities are maintained."

Joseph Ogaino, the chairperson Masindi district Football Association, pledged support to the Press association and appealed to sports journalists to be objective while covering sports events.
