The High court in Kampala has handed down custodial sentences of two and
five years' prison terms to two juvenile offenders after convicting them of aggravated defilement and murder respectively.

One of the sentenced juvenile is a 12-year-old former pupil of Nakasero Primary School who pleaded guilty last week to defiling a six-months-old baby.

While sentencing him, presiding judge Joseph Mulangira decried the increasing cases of defilement that leave the families of the victims in constant trauma.

Justice Mulangira also sentenced a 15-year-old girl to a five-year prison term after she pleaded guilty to murdering a four-year old neigbour's boy.

The judge said that the accused denied the victim a right to his full life when she threw a knife that slit his throat in September 2015.

Both juveniles have been part of an on-going juvenile plea-bargain session held at the Kampala High Court where they pleaded guilty in exchange for more lenient sentences from court.

These are to serve their sentences in children remand homes.
