With the increasing participation and sponsorship, director Kids of Africa Tage Budolfsen expects to take the annual Kids of Africa fun run countrywide.

Kids of Africa, is a Swiss-founded children's home operating in Uganda that started in 2005. The home provides education for 100 abandoned children in 10 family homes each headed by a foster mother located in Bwerenga Wakiso district.

Speaking at the launch, Budolfsen said with the success of the five old year run plans are in place to take the event to other up-country places.

"We began way back in 2011 with 300 participants and in 2015 we had 923 runners raising 80 million that was used to complete a dental clinic at the children's home in Bwerenga. We plan to go countrywide in years to come," said Budolfsen.

The 6th edition of the run due on October 16 in Bwerenga in Wakiso targets to raise sh100m for provision of clean water to people in the community.

The event is sponsored by ROKO Construction in partnership with Sheraton Kampala Hotel, Kampala Cement, Orient Bank, GT Bank and Yako Microfinance.

ROKO Human Resource manager Diana Nyakato believes that the event will be a success.

"This event is growing every year and we expect numbers to rise from last year's 923 to 1000 which means the money we need will be raised. Winners in each race category will go with money prizes, gifts and medals," said Nyakato.
