Current standings as the National Chess League nears climax reveal Lweza Chess Club as an upcoming strong team that has continued to better its chances of making it to the top division, following their weekend victories.
The team in division two continues to lead the table with 23 points followed by Decoda and Chess Warriors who tied at 17 points each.
Meanwhile, Mulago Kings were pushed to fourth position with 18 points as City took up third place.
The team's poor performance followed back to back losses against the two best placed teams Dmark (24 pts) and Kireka (23pts).
Playing board one, Shadrack Kantinti lost both of his games to FIDE Master (FM) Harold Wanyama of Kireka in white and Patrick Kawuma of Dmark in black during the 11 and 12 rounds respectively.
Kenneth Kakooza on board 2 also lost to Haruna Nsubuga of Kireka in black and also managed to raw with Dmark's Walter Okas in the round that followed.
Their teammates Amos Etoru and Joan Nakimuli also lost their games to Edgar Ntende and Stellah Nabasitu respectively.
Kawuma and Okas were the highest scorers for Dmark while FM Wanyama and Ntende scooped the most points kireka.
