Pool: Richard Kizito ends long wait for Nile Special Open

The Maga Pool Club player beat Christopher Twesigye 5-0 to book a slot in the regional finals at Capital Pub in Kansanga.

"I feel so good that I have finally made it." That is how Richard Kizito said after ending five years of waiting to feature in Nile Special Pool Open championship over the weekend.

After making the cut, Kizito promised to do wonders during the grand finals due next month October 2 at Lugogo.

"I have big hopes of winning in the grand finals because I cannot be intimidated by anybody. I have no fears for anybody" he stressed further.

Joel Kiwanuka stole the show in the third-place play-off after beating Joseph Galiwango 3-1.

At Leisure Pub in Kasese, 2013 champion Jonah Turigye also made the cut in second place. The Maga Pool club kingpin made the cut despite falling to Scrap Buyers Wasswa Kayiya 4-1. The third slot was taken by Moses Mukwaya.

At Diana Gardens in Gulu,  Walter Odoch led the way after beating Emma Ociti at Garden. Both plauyer qualified for the grand finals alongside third-placed Dennis Ayella.

The regional finals that conclude this month will determine the top cream of 120 players who will square off with the top 8 seeds in the grand finals.

With a top prize of a brand new car, sh2m and a pool table is at stake, a tough challenge awaits top players as a new wave of talent dictates the pace in the qualifiers.
