City Tyres has committed to continuously support the annual USPA Road Safety Campaign after presenting a sh7m cheque to the Uganda Sports Press Association for this year's campaign.

City Tyres marketing manager Herbert Bashasha and retail head R Giridharan presented the cheque to USPA executive members Rita Aliguma and Robert Magembe, led by president Sabiiti Muwanga at City Tyres offices on Thursday.

"We've been with USPA for over ten years; it's not about us being top in the auto industry but we also care for the lives of the people on the roads and I want to thank even all your predecessors who initiated this. It has really put this campaign to another level," Bashasha said.

"This year we discovered that many of our drivers don't know much about road signs so we decided to come up with a theme to remind them about the importance of road signs, though we have had a similar theme before," Muwanga said.

"We are going to different taxi stages to give out these signs and encourage them to study and understand them, as per this year's theme 'Learn and Respect Traffic Signs'," Muwanga added.
