Makerere University will represent Uganda at the second edition of the 3x3 FISU World University Basketball League slated 21 to 23 October in the Chinese Island City Xiamen.

Both the men and women's sides that qualified after finishing first and second respectively during the All Africa University Games held in South Africa in June will have four players each and a coach travel on a fully expenses paid trip by the organizers.

Makerere University basketball coach Albert Aciko who is handling both sides is optimistic there will be improvement from last year's performance.

"We started our preparations early, I can say we have now gelled as a unit we are targeting a semifinal slot" Aciko said.

The Ladies' team has Stacey Lubowa, Joy Chemutai, Alituwera Luyiga and Leticia Awor while the men's side has Tonny Monoja, Daniel Ladu, Daniel Ojoro and Samson Bajjunga.

30 universities from 23 different countries will compete with 32 teams representing the five continents.

Last year, Uganda was represented by Ndejje University (Men) while Uganda Christian University took part in the ladies category.

Tianjin University of Finance and Economy from China and UQAM of Canada are the ladies and men's defending champions respectively.
