Kisekka, who was a priest of Masaka Catholic diocese, died of cancer, in April, this year.
Uganda Martyrs' University, Nkozi, on Thursday launched a book in tribute of the late Associate Professor Fr. Joseph Kisekka, who worked at the University for 14 years as a lecturer, director of the Institute of Ethics and Religious Studies and, Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Fanancial Affairs.
Kisekka, who was a priest of Masaka Catholic diocese, died of cancer, in April, this year.
His tribute book was written by Professor Jimmy Spire Ssentongo, a senior lecturer at the University.
The book was launched by the Vicar-General of Masaka Catholic diocese, the Very Rev. Msgr. Serverus Jjumba.
The launching of the book was preceded by a memorial lecture for Kisekka, titled: Problematising Dr. Joseph Kisekka: Views on individuality, society and leadership.
Prof. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo, who delivered the lecture, acknowledged the unique leadership skills of the late Fr. kisekka, who he described as a strict, principled man, who spoke out his mind without fear or favour.
"Sometimes, he may have overreacted, but many of his mistakes were in good faith and perhaps some were as a result of the overwhelming circumstances of his work. As a workaholic and in his determination to block financial leakages, sometimes he piled more work on himself than he could realistically handle."
Ssentongo added: "We could even say without blasphemy that he gave his own life so that Uganda Martyrs' University, Nkozi, may live."
The function was preceded by a dedication mass, during which the university's students and staff dedicated the new academic year to God.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fr. John chrysostom Maviiri asked the students to exercise maximum decency in all aspects of their life. He also asked them to attend all the functions that take place at the University because such functions come with opportunities.
