The Citizens' Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU) on Friday launched its countrywide post-election feedback forums.

The inaugural forum attracted over 100 citizens from various political parties, security agencies, judiciary, parliament, local government and cultural institutions and the Electoral Commission.

Representatives of civil society, religious leaders, media practitioners and members of the general public also attended.

Eastern districts of Jinja, Mayuge, Iganda, Namutumba, Namayingo, Luuka, Kaliro, Buyende, Bugiri and Kamuli all sent representatives.

A panel comprising of: Charity Ahimbisibwe (CCEDU); ASP Mugira Yeko Kato (OC Operations Jinja Central Police Station); Hajji Badru Ssebyala (Deputy RDC Mayuge); and Dr. Frank Nabwiso discussed the topic, "Post the 2016 Elections: Recasting the political and Electoral Reform Advocacy agenda."

The forum was graced by Jinja LCV Chairperson Titus Kisambira and local government representatives from the Busoga region.

This forum is intended to enable key stakeholders in the electoral process to reflect on the 2016 general elections as well as discuss findings of different election observer groups.

The post-election reflection forums will be organised in all the regions of the country and will facilitate the establishment of a renewed political-electoral reform agenda through the re-prioritization of electoral reform issues.

The forums are envisaged to lay the foundation of the next phase of the campaign for meaningful political-electoral and constitutional reforms.
