KAMPALA - Rwandan golfer Jules Mutesa Dusabe has been a regular competitor in the Tusker Malt Lager Uganda Open over the years.

Despite playing the Kitante course on several occasions, including with the national Rwandan team as an amateur, he hasn't been able to conquer it.

He returns at this year's professional event having turned to the professional ranks recently and will be hoping for the best as he tussles it out with over 80 other professionals in the sh110m event.

The 30-year-old has won seven Rwanda Open nett titles in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014, two Burundi Open gross titles (2007 and 2011), two Rwanda Open (2012 and 2015) and the 2008 Captain and President's Cup titles in Rwanda.

With a rich amateur record, Dusabe will be hoping to finally conquer Kitante and bag his first prize money from Uganda.

But he is not alone in his quest as he is coming alongside other fellow Rwandan players: Ernest Ndayisenga and Olivier Munyaneza.

Having missed the cut last year, Ndayisenga and Munyaneza will also be hoping for better fortunes in the four-day event due October 31 to September 3.

The Uganda Open does not come any easier and the Rwandan trio will have to be at their best to ward off a strong field from the Sunshine and MENA tours as well as from a host of Ugandans who are also gunning for the same prize.

Uganda's  Herman Mutaawe, Phillip Kasozi, Willy Kitata, Saidi Mawa, Fred Wanzala, Godfrey Mande, Opio Onito and Brian Toolit are the only ones who had a share of the sh100m last year and will also be playing for the top positions where the big money is at.
