Kiggundu calls for tougher action on politicians

He wants Parliament to amend the Electoral Commission laws to make them stiff.

KAMPALA - The Electoral Commission Chairman, Eng. Badru Kiggundu (pictured) has called for tougher penalties for politicians who present fake academic documents.

Kiggundu says this has literally cost the Government billions of shillings in organising elections for such members who are later thrown out of Parliament.

He wants Parliament to amend the Electoral Commission laws to make them stiffer.

Kiggundu made the call during a media briefing at his offices in Kampala where he announced the final preparations for parliamentary and local government council elections in the newly-created districts.

These elections which kick off Friday.
