The Democratic Party has advised the government to increase the budget for all its tertiary institutions to avoid further sit-down strikes by staff.

This follows the closure of all public universities after the non-teaching staff vowed not to go back to work unless their remuneration and arrears have been settled.

Former Makerere University guild president, also DP vice president Fred Mukasa Mbidde, told reporters in Kampala that the standoff at Makerere is a result of poor planning by the Government.

DP has also expressed concern over the alleged police brutality against their woman parliamentary candidate of Omoro district Suzan Lanyelo.
