When Uganda's number one amateur golfer, Ronald Otile was offered a scholarship in South Africa earlier this year, he was clearly in seventh heaven but like he's found out it's not all that rosy.

He may have defended the amateur Tusker Malt Lager Uganda Golf Open title at Kitante on Saturday but back in South Africa, it's a whole new different experience as he struggles to cope with his new surroundings.

The 21-year-old says that the characteristics of the greens down south are different from what he was used to.

"The greens there are too tilted and smooth. I am finding a challenge getting used to them and this affects my putting generally" he said.

The Toro Golf Club product also acknowledges that some of his colleagues in South Africa are a little more skilled and it remains a learning experience for him.

He says though that his game plan has improved ever since he went to the University of Pretoria where he is studying.

He returned 291 gross over four rounds to win the 82nd edition of the Uganda Golf Open title at Kitante on Saturday.
