Twelve priests and ten deacons ordained at Rubaga Cathedral

Twelve priests and ten deacons were  ordained at Rubaga Cathedral by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kampala, Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga.

Those ordained to the priesthood were Reverend Fathers Felix Kasibante, Emmanuel Katalemwa, James Matovu, Jude Mubiru, Francis Mukiibi, Simon Peter Ssekyanzi, Charles Lwanga Sserugunda, Richard Sseremba, Peter Woniala, Denis Yiga, Lwarence Sseguya and John Mary Kibirige.

The deacons included Vincent Kazibwe, Ponsiano Mayega, Nyansio Mbaziira, Jeremiah Mpanga, Joseph Mugamba, Lawrence Ndiwalana, Mark Ssemayengo, Joseph Matovu, Remegius Sserugga and Alvin Lawerence Tendo.

Archbishop Lwanga asked the newly ordained priests and Deacons to be faithful to the promises of celibacy and obedience that they had made. He said that in the Catholic Church, a priest had to be in communion with the Bishop, in order to exercise his priestly ministry harmoniously. 

Lwanga also used this opportunity to clarify on the saga of Rev. Frs. Jacinto Kibiuka and Anthony Musaala, who recently declared that they had left the Catholic Church. He said that when a priest decides to go to another Church, which is not in communion with the Pope of Rome, it means that he has excommunicated himself.

Likewise, the Christians who decide to follow him also excommunicate themselves. But if that priest repents and decides to return to the Church, he has to ask for permission from the Pope. Lwanga said that the issues of Fr. Musaala and Fr. Kibuuka were now in Rome, from where they now had to get clearance, if they wanted to return to the Church.

"As for me, I have forgiven Musaala and Kibuuka. But their issues are now beyond me. It is the Vatican that now has to clear them if they wished to return." Lwanga later asked journalists to stop writing falsehood about Church leaders.

Earlier, Emmanuel Cardinal Dr. Wamala also blamed some people, who he said made deliberate attempts to bring confusion in the Church. He stressed that all the Catholic Bishops were working in unity and were also supportive of each other.
