Locals armed with sticks and stones tried to lynch him

Police in Iganga is holding a prominent businessman in Iganga Municipality in connection with the theft of a goat worth sh200,000.

The suspect, Moses Walulumba, a resident of Bukona village, Nakalama Sub County in Iganga district was arrested with the goat belonging to one Zubairi Waiswa a resident of the neighbouring Kakongoka village.

Walulumba who operates a shop in Kaliro Road zone in Iganga Municipality was nabbed after he allegedly picked the goat from a bush and transported it on a motorcycle to Iganga town with the intention of selling it off.

Waiswa said that he was alerted by locals who saw Walulumba who had wrapped the goat in his jacket waiting to board a bodaboda to Iganga town.

His mission wasn't successful because locals armed with sticks and stones tried to lynch him before he was rescued by local authorities who handed him over to Police.

The officer in charge CID department at Iganga Police, Sophie Naboth Nalongo, said that after investigations, the accused will be produced to court on charges of theft under file number CRB760/2016.
