To beat the eight contestants in the Miss Tourism Teso regional search held at Club Trends in Soroti, all Dianah Akiro-Egatu had to do was present herself in a composed demeanour in all tasks set by the judges.

This evening would have been the best off all regional searches save for the fact that the show started late.

The Iteso are known for being party animals who storm clubs late in the night and perhaps this could have been one of the reasons why the pageant started at 10:00pm.

Indeed, most revellers who turned up late that night came to party, judging by their skimpy dresses and the high rate at which they guzzled beer.

The first and second runners-up were Judith Amiyo, 22 and Martha Agwang, 21, New Vision journalist who also scooped Miss Talent Teso.

The winner's role model is her mother whom she finds as a true epitome of a hardworking and God-fearing woman. This was Akiro-Egatu's first time participating in a pageant and intends to use her term to promote cultural tourism in Teso.

Unfortunately for Amiyo, who had been crowned the first runner-up, her past misdeeds came back to haunt her. The scouts discovered her misdeeds and disqualified her on Sunday morning for "misbehaving and not fitting the standard" of the pageant. She handed over the crown to Judith Kiffola, who came fourth in the pageant.

Kiffola now joins Akiro-Egatu and Agwang for the nationals to be held on September 30 at Kampala Serena Hotel.
