Ronnie Okello leads Rock Catalina quartet

It was a Rock Catalina Pool Club day as Simon Peter Kampumuza, Tony Okello, and Shafiq Woguwale also earned places alongside Okello on Friday.

Ronnie Okello led the Rock Catalina Pool Club quartet to the Nile Special Open Pool grand final after seeing off Ivan AsabA 3-1 at Rock Catalina over the weekend.

The win raised the stakes for the civil engineer who last reached the finals of the event in 2002.

Kampuruza edged out Collin Mulangira 3-2 as Mukasa also beat Alex Mwesigye while Woguwale stopped Noah Kibanda 3-0.

The regional qualifiers due later this month will determine the top cream of players who will square off for a top prize of a brand new car, sh2m and a pool table that is is at stake for the champion.

Defending champion Amos Ndyagumanawe leads the pack of eight top seeds that will contest alongside the 120 qualifiers in the grand final due on October 22.

A total of 160 players qualified for the next round from the weekend preliminary action that involved 40 playing centers countrywide.

At Bamboo Nest in Bugolobi, Alex Mugabe, Allan Katongole, Francis Watum and Musa Mutebi sailed through.

At Panaroma Pub in Ibanda, Byanzi Kakuru, Moses Arinaitwe, Ronald Tumuhimbise and Douglas Baguma made it.

Wilson Twesigye, Prince Ainamatsiko, Gilbert Ayebazibwe and Vincent Agaba marched through from Channel 4 in Kabwohe.

From Busia, David Muhirwa, Swaleh Mugalazi, Samson Wambuzi and Sulaiman Muto made it at Capital Pub.
