Kabale diocese marks 50 years

The main theme for today’s celebrations is re-awakening our catholic identity and commitment.

Kabale diocese is today celebrating 50 years since it became a diocese. The main celebrations are taking place at Rushoroza cathedral grounds,in Kabale diocese.

The main celebrant for today's mass is the Pope's representative in Uganda, Papal nuncio, Michael Brume.  The Mbarara Archdiocese Archbishop, Paul K Bakyenga, is the guest preacher.

Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda is expected to be the chief guest.

Since inception, Kabale diocese has been led by five bishops that is Rt. Rev.Gervase Nkalanga, Rt.Rev. Barnabas Halem'Imana, Rt. Rev. Robert Mary Gay and it is currently led by Rt. Rev. Calist Rubaramira.

According to the diocesan Bishop, Calist Rubaramira, the 50 years celebration should be a time to credit the founders of the diocese for their most appreciated efforts and initiatives in founding and building the diocese.  

Rubaramira says God has favoured and blessed the diocese abundantly in so many ways in terms of vocations to priesthood, religious life and family life.

Kabale diocese was founded in 1966.
