The international cultural fair that was put together by the tourism ministry opened Friday under the theme "Appreciating who we are: Celebrating Cultural Diversity" at the Uganda museum.

This fair is running as a platform where people from within Uganda and from a variety of other countries across the world are hoping to showcase the various cultural arts as a means of embracing diversity.

Largely attended by nursery, primary and secondary school children, the fair kicked off on a low-key with minimal turn-out by the planned kick-off at 9:00am.

However, the exhibition stalls slowly filled up by 10:00am and the opening performances were done by among others, pupils of Green Hill Academy, the Acholi Project as well as the New Delhi School.

These teams performed dances from eastern Uganda, Acholi and India respectively with the Green Hill youngsters nailing an outstanding piece with great selection of colour.

The cultural fair is planned to run until Sunday.
