High School Table Tennis championship tees off Saturday

Also known as the Kateregga Memorial, the annual competition is one of the biggest schools events in East Africa.

Table tennis giants Mbale Progressive, Mbogo College and Kololo SS renew their rivalry on Saturday and Sunday in the National Schools Championship.

The three heavyweights lead the entry of 33 schools that have confirmed participation at the event that will be held at the MTN Arena. Victoria University has injected sh1.5m in the competition.

Before handing over the cheque to Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) president Douglas Kayondo, the marketing and recruitment Specialist at Victoria University Charity Byarugaba, commended UTTA for nurturing talent.

"We are happy to be associated with UTTA, because it is a sport that promotes focus, discipline and mental growth of an athlete," Byarugaba stated.

She added that her institution will continue supporting UTTA in the development of the youth in the country.

UTTA president Kayondo lauded Victoria University for thesupport and appealed to them to continue supporting then in other calendar activities.
