JULY 15, 2003
A Uganda People's Defence Force (UPDF) MiG-21 fighter jet crashed into Lake Victoria, about 15km from the airbase in Entebbe. It was one of three second-hand planes bought in 1998 from Poland and up-graded into MiG-29 war planes by Israel's Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). Body parts of the Russian pilot who was on board were found a week later.
