Hima Cement marketing director Allan Semakula has pledged more support to Fight Club Kampala kick-boxers in order to give kick-boxing a strong foundation in Uganda.

Hima bank-rolled the team of three kick-boxers including lightweight Patricia Apolot, welterweight Shakey Mubiru and middleweight Alex Matsiko that stood out in Hungary recently.

Apolot out-classed Slovakia's Victoria Lipanska to win the Inter-Continental lightwelter title while Mubiru unanimously beat homeboy Sandor Joo. On his part, Matsiko took the fight to Class A fighter Csaba Gyorfy but was edged out.

While officially welcoming the team at a luncheon the Swiss Gymnasium in Kololo in Kampala, Semakula thanked the trio for putting the Ugandan flag higher.

"We couldn't be happier that our maiden support helped the team to come out of success. We feel proud that the team represented Uganda well," said Semakula.

"Our primary role is to make quality cement in Uganda but we shall also support sports development including kick-boxing," he added.

Hima Cement facilitated the team with sh20m for the Hungary engagement while Apolot received sh50 for the season.
After the Hungary exploits, the three martial artists qualified for the Kick-boxing World Cup due on November 14-19 in Andria, Italy.
