Army deserter arrested over Mukono robbery

The Uganda People's Defense Force (UPDF) has denied that a robbery suspect arrested in Mukono district early this week is a serving army officer.
The army said Pte Kenneth Mugombesya was arrested after a robbery along Mukono-Kayunga Road in Mukono district on Saturday is a deserter.
Upon his arrest, Mugombesya said he is a serving UPDF officer attached to the Land Force Headquarters in Bombo where he works as a driver.
UPDF said in a statement that the suspect ran away from the force in 2013 and that he has been on the army's hunt list.
