Jun 15, 2016

The two golfers, who are now a month into the Elite PGA Diploma training program at the University of Pretoria will be conferred with international industry accreditation status.

Ronald Otile and Daniel Baguma will after their three-year scholarship courtesy of the Royal and Ancient Club of Scotland not only have improved their game but also the different aspects of teaching and managing players and the sport.

The two golfers, who are now a month into the Elite PGA Diploma training program at the University of Pretoria will  be conferred with international industry accreditation status. This will be a major advantage to them to seek international employment opportunities.

The program exposes students to a variety of theoretical as well as practical situations that they will be exposed to in the professional golfing Industry.

The underlying aim of the program is to provide the student with a sound technical knowledge of all aspects required to enter the golfing industry while still allowing the student the opportunity to pursue a potential playing career.

This is made possible through golf coaching, psychology, strength and fitness training, nutrition advice as well as game management and feedback through access to an athlete management system.

Apart from the chilly weather conditions they have encountered the two have settled in and are already working out both in class and on the course.

"We are already hitting them long and hard and quiet a lot actually. But it gets dark so early here by 6pm it's already dark," Baguma said via a chat.

He said they attend class every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10-1pm before they are coached for the rest of the day.

"Saturday and Monday is reserved for work on the course; but we also do gym work from 6-8am Monday to Thursday every day. Then teaching of golf is on Wednesday while psychology is on Friday including lifestyle lectures,"

Otile is doing the 'Champ Elite Golf' course designed to help people become serious professionals while Baguma is pursuing a PGA Diploma Golf Course for both professionals and management of the game.
