Mob lynches cattle thieves in Ibanda district.

The two have been identified as Ivan Bikibayo , of Runengo cell and Nganyira Ivan of Rwentojo cell in Rwanyamahembe sub county who are admitted at Kagongo hospital nursing severe injuries sustained from beatings. .

Police in Ibanda are investigating two men both residents of Rwanyamahembe,Kashari Mbarara district who are suspected to have been  stealing livestock in the district and neighbouring areas

 The two have been identified as Ivan Bikibayo , of Runengo cell and Nganyira Ivan  of Rwentojo cell  in Rwanyamahembe sub county who are admitted at Kagongo hospital nursing severe injuries sustained from beatings. .

 Dennis Ochama, the Ibanda district commander said the duo were lynched by angry residents of Bwenda parish, Rukiri sub county in Ibanda district ,when they were found loading goats in the vehicle reg. UAS 567 Toyota corona.

The window glasses of the car were smashed by angry residents who were later dispersed by Field force Unit police officers that were tipped off by residents.

The two are believed to be part of the gang that has been involved in the livestock theft in the region according to Ochama. The case was reported under file name CRB1023/2016.

"These suspects have been working  with some insiders in some villages to wreck for them livestock including cattle and goats from people's homes and farms , its good  we  now have two of them, we shall investigate and get the whole group to book" ochama told reporters.

He also urged people to keep closer to their livestock saying thieves have devised new tactics of stealing.

The Ibanda district Chairperson Kajwengye Melichiadis, welcomed the arrest calling it a hope of relief to the residents.

He however cautioned residents against taking law in their hands.
