Silverfin and Seals make strong start at National Swimming Championships

Silverfin and Seals make strong start at National Swimming Championships

The battle for this years ‘edition is locked between two foes, seals and silverfin.

It is a two horse race as silverfin and seals swim clubs started on a colossal tone in day one of the second edition of the USF National club swimming championships at Kampala International School on Saturday.

Selina Katumba was at the fore winning 4 gold and 1 silver in 800m freestyle, clocking 10:50:15,100m breaststroke, finishing in 1:27:09, 200m breaststroke, finishing in 3:09:47,200m individual medley, clocking 2:51 and 1 silver in 200m butterfly in the girl's 12 and over category.

Ronald Ssegwanyi weighed in with 3 gold and 1 silver in 800m freestyle, clocking 10:38:43,200m breaststroke,in a time of 2:58:90,200m butterfly in 3:04:22 and 1 silver in 200m butterfly in the boys 15 and over category.

Avice Meya grabbed 3 gold and 2 silver in 50m  breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke, 1 silver in 200 individual medley,and 100m breaststroke in the 15 and over girls category as Mercedes mwebeiha bagged 2 gold, 2 silver and  1 bronze as their side attained a 24 individual  gold haul.

Seal's 15 year old Anthea Mudanye bagged 3 gold and 2 silver in the 15 and over girls category.She won gold in 100m breaststroke, 100m freestyle,200m individual medley.

Darren murray bagged 3 gold in the boys 15 and over category in 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly, and 200m individual medley.

The battle for this  years ‘edition is locked between two foes, seals and silverfin.

Defending champions Dolphins did not take part in this year's edition that ends sunday.
