FUFA warns against match-fixing

“If you don’t report such cases and you are implicated."

FUFA CEO Edgar Watson has said that the federation will punish coaches who do not report cases of match-fixing and predetermination of match results to the authorities.

He said the decision was prompted by consistent reports of the vice in Uganda now.

The latest case has former KCCA coach Sam Ssimbwa banned for arguing that he has the capacity to bribe referees to give wins.

"If you don't report such cases and you are implicated and it comes to my desk. There is no way I can protect you.

"When such cases come to FUFA, we have nothing to do. It can be a career-ending vice," he told the coaches.

Watson was briefing the coaches as FUFA handover of CAF A and B coaching certificates to the tacticians at FUFA headquarters in Mengo.

He advised the coaches to desist from attacking referees during matches as it exposes their weaknesses as coaches.
