Ugandan coaches get CAF licenses

"Getting certified is one thing but executing your role is another."

Qualified but inactive football coaches and referees will have their papers withdrawn, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has warned.

FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson said that the decision was made in order to ensure that coaching tactics and refereeing standards are improved in the country.

Watson was speaking at the ceremony at the handover of CAF A and B coaching certificates to the tacticians at FUFA headquarters in Mengo on Friday.

"Getting certified is one thing but executing your role is another. It's no longer enough to get the qualification and sit with it at home. Certification is in the field," said Watson.

He advised the coaches to desist from attacking referees during matches as it exposes their weaknesses as coaches.

"Laws of the game keep changing every time and some of these are unknown to you (because many coaches do not update themselves with rules of the game). It is not good practice to openly disagree with the referee," he added.
