Muwonge finished fourth in the Mountains of the Moon Rally

In a bid to promote women in motorsport and to keep former national rally champion Suzan Muwonge active, rally drivers Ambrose Byona, Desh Kananura and Adam Rauf have supported her preparations for the UMOSPOC Kabalega Rally in July.

Rauf offered a drum of Avgas fuel worth sh1.7m while Byona and Kananura offered four new tyres worth sh2.5m for the event to take place in Bunyoro sub-region.

"We decided to support Suzan because she has shown that she can give us (men) a good challenge which is good for the sport," Byona stated.

"If you saw her in Fort Portal, she made us sweat and actually she beat me hands down. She finished fourth and I finished fifth, so with such performance she deserves support," Byona added.

In the Mountains of the Moon Rally, Muwonge finished fourth behind winner Jas Mangat, Kananura and Adam who were second and third respectively.

Muwonge was grateful for the support and urged them to extend their support to other female drivers to increase the number of female participants in motorsport.

"I'm very grateful for the support and I look forward to a podium finish in Hoima next month," Muwonge stated.

She also pledged to pay tuition fees for four primary children (3 girls and a boy) from Rutooma Primary School in Fort Portal till they complete their P7 examinations.
