Cranes has failed on several occasions to make it to AFCON

Uganda Cranes coach Micho Sredojevic has saluted the national team for their 2-1 win against Botswana and called on Ugandans to rally behind the team if it must end the 38 year absence from the continental's showpiece tournament.

Cranes has failed on several occasions to make it to AFCON finals but currently optimism among football fans that this could be the year to break the hoodoo is high.

"I'm monitoring a pool of 30 Cranes players. I'm proud of the players' performance against Botswana. I'm happy we shall have seven days to prepare for Comoros. We shall get every player in line," Micho said.

Uganda hosts Comoros for their last 2017 AFCON qualifier at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on September 3 and all the Cranes need is a win to qualify.
