BASKETBALL: Power look to maintain unbeaten start

Jun 08, 2016

Power and Our Saviour have both made perfect starts to the season

Ndejje University Angels v Power

Pemba Warriors v Our Saviour

Power coach Brian Wathum feels there is something still lacking in his team's general performance despite his side having won all four of their opening fixtures.

Power return to action tonight against the Ndejje University Angels following wins over the Sharing Youth (81-65), Pemba Warriors (85-57), KIU Titans (96-86) and UPDF Tomahawks (92-66) in the National Basketball League.

"There is nothing special about how we are playing and winning. Our game is still lacking and there is also a lot to work on and we are still trying to shape up especially on the defensive end.

We still have a long way to go in the season but am glad we are playing the way we are; thus far," Wathum stated.

With an average of 80 points per game, Power is expected to maintain their winning ways against the university side with a 2-2 record so far.

Captain Joseph Ikong has to-date led by example and is once again expected to lead the offense alongside Michael Makiadi, Isaac Afidra, Paul Odong and Michael Kojo who are averaging 10 pointrs per game so far.

Ndejje who acquired the services of Coach John Omondi will pray that Francis Kasinde has game against his former side alongside Mony Ghislan, Francis Tumusiime and Innocent Ochera.

In the other game of the day the Pemba Warriors are up against an unpredictable Our Saviour side which has made a perfect start to the season winning all four of its games.

Sullivan Yunzu, Steven Mwesige, Yves Kalambai, Kelly Martin and Joseph Chuma seem to be fired up for the season and should provide another test for the Warriors who are missing pacy Mark Okidi through injury but the likes of Caesar Kizito, Ivan Enabu, Ronnie Kasewu and Cyrus Kiviiri should provide the necessary ammunition to make it an exciting game.
