Duncan Mubiru won day one of the Mountains of the Moon rally in Fort Portal beating his closest rivals Jas Mangat, Ronald Ssebuguzi, Hassan Alwi, Desh Kananura and Arthur Blick Jr. who suffered a drive shaft problem.

Mubiru posted a time of four minutes, 45 seconds beating second placed Jas Mangat who posted a time of four minutes and 46 seconds and Ronald Ssebuguzi who posted four minutes and 49seconds.

"We are doing well the car is doing well and we waiting for day two," Kikankane stated.

"Tomorrow evening will give us the final result but at the moment it is too early to talk. What I can tell you is that I'm ok and the car is in good condition" Jas Mangat said.

Arthur Blick Jr broke his drive shaft and aborted his run before mechanics fixed it and he will compete on Sunday.

Hassan Alwi and Adam Rauf finished in fourth and fifth positions respectively.

On Sunday, drivers will traverse seven sections including Kabagambe, Mabereganyina Mwiru, Mabale and Mpanga sections.
