President Yoweri Museveni five-year tenure should focus on social service delivery improvement,

The Democratic Party's (DP) spokesperson, Kenneth Kakande said this should be the time for the President to deal with those who have been failing government programs.

"Ugandans only need better social services. We want to see proper service delivery in the next five years. We also want all those who have been involved in embezzling of public funds prosecuted," he said.

He made the remarks while addressing journalists at the party's weekly press briefing at the party headquarters in Kampala.

Kakande said many Ugandans have lost hope because of the prevailing situation of the poor service delivery across the country.

He cited sectors like health and education which he said need an overhaul for quality services.

"Let us have independent functional government units with better services," he added.

Kakande noted that there is also need to find a middle ground with those who politically disagree with the President.

DP called upon President Museveni and his government to unconditionally drop charges against former presidential candidate Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and release him from prison to create harmony.
