"Every day single day, they wake up and pray. Though, the touching part of it is what they put first is us who take care of them and then to visitors."

These were the opening remarks by Sister Maria Mildred Abitegeka, the assistant home administrator and secretary at Mapeera Bakateyamba Home in Nalukolongo while addressing a contingent from telecommunications firm UTL.

Shortly after giving a brief background of the Good Samaritan home, she took the staff led by their managing director, Mark Shoebridge around the facility.

They handed over items worth sh20m Sister Abitegeka and a few residents who attended the ceremony. The principle attraction was a washing machine.

"Being that most of them are disabled, and old, it is us and others who help us clean their clothing but now this machine is going simplify things and see us give them more," Abitegeka remarked.

Other items handed over included sugar, salt, rice, cooking oil, plastics and many more.
