Court of Appeal deputy registrar, Doe Nizeyimana, has told the former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government John Kashaka Muhanguzi that his judgment is not ready.

Nizeyimana also said that one of the three judges, Hellen Obura who presided over his (Kashaka) case, was away for a criminal session in Arua. He therefore said he would notify him when his judgment is ready.

Kashaka, 60, was convicted on a charge of causing government financial loss involving sh4b that was meant for buying bicycles for the Local Council (LC) officials in countrywide.

He was sentenced to a custodial term of 10 years by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire.

Kashaka advanced a number of reasons why he should be exonerated of the offences during the hearing of his appeal. He appealed against the whole judgment including the conviction and the sentence.

He is currently on bail, pending appeal.
