VP attends the swearing in of Djibouti president

President Guelleh was sworn in for the fourth term in office following his victory and his People’s Rally for Progress after defeating his main rival Omar Elmi Kaireh of the Union for National Salvation coalition and two others in the general elections last month

Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi has returned from the Islamic Republic of Djibouti where he represented Uganda at the inauguration of President Ismael Omar Guelleh.

President Guelleh was sworn in for the fourth term in office following his victory and his People's Rally for Progress after defeating his main rival Omar Elmi Kaireh of the Union for National Salvation coalition and two others in the general elections last month

President Guelleh who has been in office since 1999, during his swearing in in Djibouti's capital urged his countrymen and all those residing in Djibouti to join efforts to foster development, which he said was pivotal in progress of his country.

During a function attended by Presidents of Sudan, Somalia, Algeria, Rwanda, Somalia, Ghana and Ethiopia's Prime Minister, President Guelleh said that his country is open to investment to trigger economic progress and the people of Djibouti to take advantage of the eight ports, which he said, are a major gateway to Asia and the rest of the world.

The Vice President while in Djibouti held a meeting with Ugandan Business entrepreneurs operating in Djibouti urged them to market Uganda's agricultural commodities to the region whose market is guaranteed given the reliable water transport.
