Musisi shares KCCA's experience in combating climate change

The Executive Director, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Jennifer Musisi, has shared the entity's experience in combating climate change at a summit that ended on Saturday in America.

According to a post from KCCA's official Facebook page, Musisi shared KCCA's experiences in mainstreaming Climate Change in Kampala.
The post notes that Musisi gave a situation brief of the entity transformation plan and direction to boost development.

She was one of the global city managers invited. It was co-hosted by the United Nations, World Bank, Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Compact & Covenant of Mayors, University of Maryland, and Rockefeller Foundation.

"Kampala is one of the front runner cities in Africa that is demonstrating results on promoting sustainable urban development and contributing to realization of national aspirations and the sustainable development goals," the post reads in part.

Musisi pointed at KCCA's achievements in implementing the Kampala Climate Change Action Strategy including. She cited initiatives like the climate smart capital investment plan, promotion of efficient and renewable energy sources like solar street lighting.

Musisi also cited biogas in schools, charcoal briquettes from waste and eco-stoves in markets, promoting 3Rs for waste management and GO Green campaigns, and providing facilities to promote non-motorised transport models, among others.
