A security guard attached to Alpha Guards Services in Soroti town was last night attacked by unknown men.

John Robert Oriokot, 39, says he was first attacked by two men and later eight more who were hiding in a dark alley later joined in.

Oriokot was attacked while guarding Sairam Indian Supermarket which was former Sumi Shoppers located along Gweri Road in Soroti town Main Street.

Oriokot said he was disarmed after a long struggle with the attackers who started hacking at his head and arm with sharp objects like pangas.

Speaking at Soroti Regional Referral Hospital bed where he is current receiving treatment, Oriokot said the situation was worse because the electricity had gone off at that time and he had not cocked his gun.

Oriokot sustained deep cuts on the left hand and the head.

According to him, the incident occurred at around 11pm when people were still moving in town.
