As the world marks Labour Day, the Government has pledged to promote competitiveness by emphasising value addition for primary products in the agriculture, mining, oil and gas sectors, which will lead to sustainable job creation and gainful employment

Labour Day, also known as International Workers' Day and May Day, is the annual international holiday celebrating the achievements of workers. This public holiday bears its roots in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours of work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest.
