Beach soccer finals for May 28
Apr 27, 2016
St. Lawrence, MUBS, Nkumba Select and Talented are the teams that have qualified for the playoffs
Beach soccer league defending champions MUBS BSC head coach Charles Ayeko has warned quarter-finalists in the 2016 National Beach Soccer League from the Hurriken Group to watch out if they are to progress beyond the knockout stage of the league playoffs.
St. Lawrence, MUBS, Nkumba Select and Talented are the teams that have qualified for the playoffs from Hurrikens and will be meeting real Galacticos, Dalumba International, Stomers and KIU from the Monsoon group on May 8.
Ayeko's fear stems from the competitive level in the Monsoon group where the table leader only managed to garner 23 points compared to the Hurrikens group leader's 35points.
"The competition in our group was obvious and you can see the table leader has 35 points and the difference with second, third and fourth is big enough. It is not the case in Monsoon group. The top team managed 23points. We may stop at the quarterfinals," Ayeko said.
Despite their 3-2 loss to MUBS in the last group games on Sunday, St. Lawrence qualified to the quarterfinals as Hurriken group leaders with 35points.
St. Lawrence will meet Kampala International University in the quarterfinals. MUBS BSC, which finished second (33points) take on Stomers at the same stage. The semi-finals and the final of the league is slated for Lido beach, May 28.
