Zawedde registered a poor performance after finishing fourth overal
Top seed Lillian Zawedde is likely to face more tough times this season after she was handed her second defeat in less than a month over the weekend.
Zawedde registered a poor performance after finishing fourth overall with 54 strokes in 12 fairways behind winner Shamsa Nantege (49strokes), Joan Mukoova (49) and Joyce Nalubega in third place with 54 strokes at the Beach Woodball Circuit.
Her poor performance reflects a raise in competition in the women's category that could also be linked to the strong desire by other female woodball player to relegate Zawedde off the chart this season.
"Maybe she has been putting in more time to prepare for these events and I also discovered that if I also trained harder, I can continue winning and maybe at one time get to top of the charts," said Nantege after her first win of the season.
Meanwhile Zawedde defended her poor performance on Sunday saying, "I lost because I was not concentrating enough. Remember I have to depart for China at 5pm".
In the men's singles, Joel Adupa reclaimed his top of the table position after winning the second circuit with 42 strokes, two strokes ahead of Israel Muwanguzi (44strokes) in second followed by newcomer Ajoba Faustine with 46 strokes in third place.
