Nile pumps give USPA sh160m for gala

Nile Special brand manager Isaac Sekasi announced the package over the weekend for the high profile event which will have 450 guests in attendance.

This year's Nile Special USPA Sportsman of the year gala can only get better after the sponsors announced a sh160m package towards the event due April 29 2016 at Serena Hotel.

Over 55 different sports personalities will be crowned at the annual Nile Special USPA gala on April 29 at Serena Hotel.

Prime Minister Ruhakana is expected to be the chief guest while the Afrigo Band will provide the day's entertainment.

Either golfer Ronald Otile, bodybuilder Ivan Byekwaso or netballer Rachael Nanyonga who made the three-man shortlist for the main award will be crowned. Netballer Peace Proscovia won last year's crown.

Otile made the shortlist after his heroics in 2015 that saw him win a double (the Uganda Golf Open and the Professionals open), in one of the remarkable feats in Uganda amateur golf.

He was also part of the Ugandan team that for the first time won the Zone V1 Africa Golf Championship earlier in the year.

Byekwaso also took the world by storm in the year claiming two international titles in the US. He won the Mr. Universe body building championship in San Diego before claiming the AM World Cup. He also finished 5th at the Natural Olympia in Las Vegas.

One her part Rachael Nanyonga stared at the Netball World Cup that was held I Australia where Uganda finished 8th.
